2017 Flanagan Cabernet Sauvignon
2017 Flanagan Cabernet Sauvignon – Winemaker Notes: The defining attributes of the 2009 Flanagan Cabernet are its ripe, seamless palate and its power. This wine displays a classic profile of a floral bouquet of violets and irises, but it is the palate that really displays the richness of the 2009 vintage. Deep black fruits, warm rock, mocha, and savory notes of olive and bay leaf flow seamlessly together in a truly beautiful glass of wine.
Vineyards
Top vineyard sites have always been the cornerstone of our wines. Our original ranch in Bennett Valley is, without question, one of the top new world sites for cool climate Syrah. In 2015 we acquired the iconic Platt Ranch in Bodega. We believe that Platt is the top site for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in California. Eric Flanagan, through a targeted vineyard investment fund he started, acquired the Platt Vineyard and also purchased the Gap’s View vineyard in the Petaluma Gap area of the Sonoma Coast AVA. Our vineyard designated wines currently include Platt Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, Ritchie Vineyad Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, Bacigalupi Chardonnay, and Gap’s View Pinot Noir. I believe that, “access to the best fruit sources is the most critical part of making great wines”.
Platt Vineyard
The Platt Vineyard is a stunning coastal ranch with 300 acres of hillside covered in redwoods and firs. Along the ridgeline, high above the morning fog, lie 31 acres of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vineyard. All of the vines are planted in the highly prized Goldridge fine sandy loams. From the top of the property, you can see the tiny town of Bodega and the Pacific Ocean. This is a truly spectacular coastal vineyard that ripens small crops of intense fruit at very low sugar levels. We believe Platt is the best Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vineyard in California.
