2018 Beringer Quantum
2018 Beringer Quantum This blend highlights varietals from our remarkable range of vineyards, combined to create a red 2018 wine with layered complexity. Similarly, when grape varietals combine, each lends its unique flavor and structure to create wines with great depth and expression.
The 2018 growing season started with abundant rains, followed by a bright spring and early onset of summer. Both bud break and flowering occurred later than usual, but under ideal weather conditions. This created plentiful and beautiful, even fruit set. Summer brought generous sunlight hours during the day with cooling marine influences, virtually uninterrupted by any major heat spikes. The relatively mild, long summer was followed by an extended fall with moderate heat and no rain, creating near-ideal conditions to allow fruit extended hangtime. This extended vineyard time allowed fruit to develop deep complexity and a gradual increase in sugar levels. Harvest began for red varietals in early October and lasted through mid-November. Overall, the 2018 crop increased by approximately 20-30% coming in with beautifully concentrated color and flavor making wines of outstanding quality.
