2018 Chateau Langoa-Barton

Chateau Langoa-Barton was bought by Hugh Barton in 1821. This was some 30 years before the classification of 1855. It was probably the architecture and the beautiful facade that attracted him. What is quite unique is the property has remained with the family, now on its 8th generation of ownership.

The Appellation of Saint Julien on the left bank of Bordeaux is home to some of the most sought after and collected Bordeaux out there, wines like Ducru Beaucaillou and Leoville Poyferre that sell for hundreds of dollars per bottle come from this great Cabernet based Bordeaux legendary Appellation. The vintage of 2018 in Bordeaux is a definite buy vintage. Parker’s WA gave St Julien 96pts for the vintage making the wines some of the finest and most desirable in the last twenty five years.

Today’s wine is a monster find! We have a great 3rd Growth Bordeaux from a top vintage that received a huge 96pts by Wine Spectator that does not break the bank that will stand the test of time! The 2018 Chateau Langoa-Barton is hard core St Julien Bordeaux without the price tag. The Wine Spectator calls the wine a textbook 2018 and a textbook St Julien. Great value-play here for collectors of other premium St Julien wines the likes of Leoville Las Cases and Ducru Beaucaillou – that run 3 times the price!
