2019 Villa Poggio Salvi Rosso di Montalcino 750ML
2019 Villa Poggio Salvi Rosso di Montalcino 750ML The 12-month aging in Slavonian oak barrels gives this ‘Villa Poggio Salvi’ Rosso di Montalcino a pleasantly warm and balanced character. Fruity notes of currants and violets harmonize beautifully with the gently integrated tannins. Wine of intense ruby color. The bouquet is composed of noble aromas of black plum, blackberry, blueberry, violet, and a light hint of spice. The taste is rich, fruity, balanced, with perfectly structured tannins and a long, memorable aftertaste. 91pts Suckling
Struck by the beauty of the local landscape, the engineer Pier Luigi Tagliabue decided to purchase the Villa Poggio Salvi estate in 1979 and begin the reconstruction of the estate. Today, Villa Poggio Salvi’s vineyard area covers 21 hectares in Montalcino, where mainly the Sangiovese Grosso variety is grown. The vineyards are located at an altitude of 300-500 m above sea level, the soils are predominantly marl and rocky, and the breeze blowing from the Tyrrhenian Sea provides excellent ventilation and prevents diseases of the vines. The attraction of Villa Poggio Salvi is the wine cellar, designed by the architect Enric Miralles, which perfectly follows the local landscape. This is a state-of-the-art cellar, where everything is thought out down to the smallest detail and where all the most important processes of the winery take place, from fermentation to bottling and storage.
