Greatness Begets Greatness. This is what happens when two great wine families come together. We are talking wine royalty. Two children decided to get married, the Hyde family of Napa and the Aubert de Villaine family of Domaine de la Romanee Conti. The Hyde family own one of California greatest single vineyards for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. California’s greatest Winemakers: Kistler, Marcassin, Hobbs, Aubert, Ramey make single vineyard designates wines from the great Hyde Vineyard. The de Villaine family are stewards of the greatest name in wine, Romanee Conti. DRC is the benchmark of wine period. With the marriage the two families decided to make wine together, selecting some of the greatest blocks in the Hyde Vineyard, utilizing Romanee Conti’s winemakers, to make great Chardonnay. I have always been a huge fan. I have a tiny amount of the  2023 Hyde de Villaine Chardonnay Hyde Vineyard and the wine is exquisite. This is one of the great Chardonnays. The wine combines the richness and power of the finest Cali Chardonnay with the added components of complexity, layering and length you only find in the greatest Grand Cru white Burgundy. The 2023 vintage for California is historically good and is being hailed as a vintage of a lifetime. The wine got a huge 99pts by Suckling who hails the wine as, “Closing In On Perfection” and, “holding its own with the very best worldwide.” This is one of the great Chardonnays made in California today, we have an excellent price, first come first served.
