White Wine from Burgundy, France
2024 is one of the finest white Burgundy vintages this century being compared to 2014, considered the benchmark for modern white Burgundy. These wines are stunning: vibrant, energetic, and beautifully precise, with exceptional acidity, drive, cut, and purity of fruit. There is a crystalline quality to the best 2024s that makes them irresistibly compelling. The catch is that yields were tiny, almost half what a regular vintage yields. Chassagne and Puligny benefitted from drier conditions and better flowering. Decanter, “The result are wines with exceptional balance and finesse, structure and fruit that make the wines irresistible.” Florence Cholet is a fourth-generation winemaker who took over her family’s Burgundy estate, Domaine Florence Cholet (formerly Domaine Christian Cholet-Pelletier), in Corcelles-les-Arts, France, in 2019. She holds a Master’s degree in oenology and has crafted wines internationally across France, the USA, and Australia, including Pibarnon and Chapoutier. Well-travelled, ambitious and utterly committed to getting the best from her vineyards, Florence Cholet epitomises the younger generation in Burgundy. We are very proud to be working with her Puligny Monrachet. The Puligny comes from three plots, Enseignères (95 yr old vines below Bâtard), Levron and Rouselle. This is utterly compelling Puligny, round and balanced with great depth, complexity and concentration. Loved this wine!
