2020 CHATEAU SAINTE CROIX CHARMEUR ROSE “750ML”
The Château Sainte Croix, a fortified farmhouse from the 12th century, is situated in the town of Carces in the heart of the Côtes de Provence Appellation. Here, the Pelepol family has taken care of the family’s vineyards for the last 100 years. The passion of Jacques and Florence Pelepol is shown in each one of their beautiful wines produced at the Chateau.
Today, the property has 50 hectares under vine situated on limestone and sandy gravel terroirs. Attention to detail is of extreme importance on every single step of the vine growing process. Only biodynamic and sustainable viticulture is performed at the vineyards. The vines go through green harvests (the removal of immature grape bunches for the purpose of decreasing yields) and canopy management to control sun exposure. All harvesting is done at night to take advantage of the diurnal shifts and obtain better acid/sugar levels which is key when producing clean, crisp, balanced Provencal roses.
Chateau Sainte Croix Charmeur is a blend of Grenache (50 %), Cinsault (30 %) and Syrah (20 %) sourced from a 15 ha vineyard where the age of vines range from 30 – 40 yrs old. Yields are controlled to 55 hectoliters/hectare. Grapes are pneumatically pressed and aged in stainless steel tanks. Production is only 7,500 cases.
The word Charmeur, “charming” in English is the perfect way to describe this top Cuvee from Chateau Sainte Croix. The wine offers hints of strawberry and red raspberry cream on the nose, a soft creamy mouth-feel, with vibrant acidity and subtle minerality in the backend making it the perfect accompaniment for summer salads, grilled light fish dishes, fresh seafood or as an aperitif.
