He made today’s wine that sells for $25.99. The wine comes from a vintage that is considered one of the finest ever in Tuscany, 2021. The Wine Spectator comments, “Tuscany’s recently released 2021 vintage could be this celebrated region’s best year yet.” Decanter calls 2021 Tuscany “A milestone vintage”. Nittardi dates back to the 16th century. The property was owned by Michelangelo Buonarroti who, in 1549, while finishing the Sistine Chapel, wrote to his nephew Lionardo: “I’d prefer two casks of wine rather than eight shirts.” Today Nittardi makes some of the finest wines in Tuscany.

Please let me show you the way. This is a great bottle wine. Only $25.99, 93pts Parker’s WA, great vintage and great winemaker. The wine is pure Sangiovese from the single vineyard “Vigna Doghessa” in the municipality of Castellina in Chianti. The vineyard lies on a south-east facing hill at 450 meters above sea level and has a soil full of schist stones, which engenders the wine with a fine minerality and pleasant freshness. As homage to Michelangelo, the unique combination of art and wine is still cultivated today at Nittardi. Every year a well-known artist paints the label as well as the wrapping paper used for the Casanuova di Nittardi Vigna Doghessa wine bottles. 2021 is the 41st edition and the Academy Award-winning director, producer and screenwriter James Ivory created the artworks for the label. Extremely well-respected Falstaff wine magazine gave the wine 94pts naming the 2021 ‘Best Chianti Classico’ of the vintage.
