The great Pomerol‘s from Bordeaux are the hardest to get, most exclusive wines made in Bordeaux. If you look at the right bank of Bordeaux, the two famous regions are Saint Emilion and Pomerol. From a size stand point, if Saint Emilion is the size of your hand, then Pomerol is the size of your thumbnail.  Pomerol is where the greats come from, like Petrus and Le Pin, Bordeaux’s most expensive wines. Today’s wine comes from the great 2020 vintage is considered a modern classic with low yields, high quality, creamy textures, and great balance, offering both immediate approachability and long aging potential across all appellations. The right bank outperformed the left bank in 2020. Parker gave the vintage 95pts for Pomerol. In 2020 Pomerol made exceptional wines; Petrus scored 100 pts Parker’s WA and is selling for $7000 a bottle. Le Pin scored 96pts Parker and is selling for $5000 a bottle. 

Today I bring you a great Pomerol, a smart buy and Parker’s WA hails it as “One of the wines of the vintage.” The 2020 Chateau La Conseillante scored a perfect 100pts by Parker’s WA and can be had for under $300 a bottle. I am adding this wine to my cellar. This is a huge achievement, a monumental wine, a great collector piece and is as Good As Wine Gets. Our price is strong and we have the wine.

100pts Parker’s WA: “One of the wines of the vintage is the 2020 La Conseillante, a blend of 86% Merlot and 14% Cabernet Franc that wafts from the glass with inviting aromas of raspberries, red cherries and mulberries mingled with exotic spices, violets and rose petals. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and vibrant, it’s a beautifully elegant, sensual wine with a deep core of fruit framed by powdery tannins, concluding with a long, extravagantly floral finish. This is a Pomerol of striking purity and sophistication. Congratulations to Marielle Cazaux and her team for surpassing even what they achieved in 2016 and 2019 with this brilliant 2020!
