A lovely reference nestled in the heart of the Pomerol appellation, Château Le Bon Pasteur was founded in the 1920s by the grandparents of the famous oenologist-consultant Michel Rolland. The latter took over in 1979, introducing numerous technical innovations that quickly contributed to its international renown. Accompanied by his wife Dany, they have never ceased to magnify the grandeur of the terroir of their Domaine, offering complex, richly elegant crus. Today, the team is led by Benoît Prévot, with Michel Rolland as consultant. The Château Le Bon Pasteur produces wines that are almost exemplary, so refined, velvety and deep are they, developing sublime aromas of evolution after a few years of cellaring.
Emerging from the home estate of renowned consultant Michel Rolland, the 2020 Château Le Bon Pasteur sports a deep, inky purple hue to go with its medium to full-bodied aromas and flavors of ripe black fruit, smoked herbs, tobacco, and scorched earth. With terrific overall balance, fabulous tannins, and a deep, concentrated mid-palate, this beautiful Pomerol might be up with the finest wines I have ever tasted from this address.
