Collemattoni Brunello 2019

Brunello’s make up some of the most sought after, collectible and cellar able wines in the world and if you are going to lay down these wines vintage is key. We have just had a great vintage from Brunello 2019. They rival the great 2016s and some say surpass them in quality. The 2019 vintage received 95pts by Parker’s WA and 98pts by Wine Spectator. On 2019, Vinous On 2019 Brunello, “I’m happy to report that the current releases from Montalcino are an embarrassment of riches for collectors and fans of the appellation.” Kerin O’Keefe On 2019 Brunello, “Never tasted so many drop-dead-gorgeous young Brunello’s from a single vintage.”

Now today’s Brunello Collemattoni has been a massive customer. Customer’s buy the wine, taste the wine and they buy more. 2018 was a huge success and 2019 is even better. Collemattoni was founded my by brothers Adon & Marcello Bucci and is a labor of love. The winery is named for the farmhouse that has become its trademark. The farmhouse dates back to at least 1672, when it was registered in the parish archives as a family home. They own five small vineyards in different areas of the Southern part of Montalcino community: from South East to South West. This allows them to have a very balanced Brunello di Montalcino – a mix of structure and elegance. The Collemattoni Brunello 2019 is a glorious wine that I urge you all to get. Andrew Jeffords of Decanter included this wine in his top five wines of the vintage giving the wine 98pts.  At a price of $64.99 with a huge savings. I’m grabbing a case for my cellar. The wine has impeccable balance, breathtaking fruit, harnesses great power and intensity matched with grace and finesse. The 2019s are selling fast.

Dark, brooding black-red. Fine, dense, meaty, amply served aromas, suggesting a big, generous wine to come. Beautifully composed fruits here, glowing and venting in the glass. Super concentration and drama here. One of the most dramatic wines we have tasted today, this is a depth-charge beauty, with splendidly resonant fruits, rippling, soft tannins, almost insistent (though accommodated) acids; a mouth-drench that will leave no drinker unmoved. It is big and masterful, and you may prefer something more proportionate and “classical,” but as a cry of joy from its vineyard and its place on Earth, this is hard to overlook.
