Exceptional quality at a great price. Chateau Couvent des Jacobins made a great wine in 2020. Couvent des Jacobin is steeped in history going back some 700 years. Its vineyards are at some of the highest points in St Emilion, and from the name occupies the site of an ancient Dominican convent, established in the 14th century, offering refuge to pilgrims on the famed route of St Jacques de Compostelle. Today this great Chateau and great wines are under the stewardship of 5th generation Xavier Jean. Wines are made under the control of Thomas Duclos, a rising star in Bordeaux, taking over for Derenencourt and Rolland at many properties, making wines for the likes of Chateau Giscours, Troplong Mondot, Canon and San Felice and Campogiovanni in Tuscany.
The 2020 Couvent des Jacobins is a great wine receiving 94pts by Parker’s WA and 95pts by Suckling. Matched with our price, this is one of the great buys of this excellent vintage. We could only secure 25 cases of the wine at the price. With time in the bottle, the wine is entering its drinking window of 2026-2035+. This is buy on a spectacular wine.
