White Wine from Mosel, Germany
This Goldtröpfchen ranks as an unofficial “Grand Cru” delivering light floral and fresh Kabinett style wines. Weingut Matheus is located in Piesport on the Mosel and has a 400 year tradition of winemaking (8 generations). Since 1992, the estate has been managed by Petra Hain-Matheus and Jorg Matheus, a graduate of the school in Geisenheim.
Buoyant primary aromas of sunny peach and tangerine are juxtaposed against deep reverberating slate and flint in this gorgeously balanced Kabinett. It’s lusciously textured but spine-tingling with acidity. The finish is long, lingering on warm spice tones. Drink now through 2030.
Full-bodied, delicately scented nose of ripe peaches and cool cassis. On the palate, the acidity plays with the natural sweetness. The juice reveals fine flavours of exotic fruits and blackcurrants. The slate minerality keeps this Riesling fresh and invigorating.
Development: Already a pleasure as a young, fresh wine, Piesport wines are known to develop an even more opulent bouquet after 2-3 years in the bottle. It can retain its sweetness and freshness for up to ten years.
