Turley makes the finest Zins on the planet. I was going through my notes and was amazed at how many times I tasted a great Zin and referenced Turley. ‘Taste like Turley, ‘Smells like Turley’, ‘Drinks like Turkley’ and ‘Reminds me of Turley’. The reason my notes have all these comments is that we reference the great wines when taste something new. I can tell you Turley is the reference point when it comes to the finest Zinfandels. We have been able to secure a tiny amount of the 2022 Turley Estate Napa Zinfandel to offer you. The wine got a huge 95pts by Parker’s WA and we have secured a strong price. Turley was founded by Larry Turley, brother of Helen Turley who after selling his stake in Frogs Leap. His love of old vines started him on this journey and as they say the rest is history. More famous winemakers have made or got their start at Turley. This is a big red with big bold opulent flavors. Don’t get it on your clothes. The sensory experience will blow you away. The 2022 Zinfandel Turley Estate is composed of three generations of plantings that commenced in 1996. Medium to deep ruby in the glass, it opens with pure, deep, characteristic aromas of grilled yellow peaches, red cherry, redcurrant, lavender, leather and angostura bitters, revealing finer detail as it spends time in the glass. The palate is massively rich, full-bodied and powerful, with a brooding density that melds with grainy tannins and mouthwatering acidity. The finish is layered, dramatic and perfumed, with an overarching youthful density that will take a few years in bottle to unwind. This is a lovely effort that combines modern density with a classically framed structure. WA
