2022 Bodegas del Palacio de Fefinanes 1583 Albarino de Fefinanes 750ML
2022 Bodegas del Palacio de Fefinanes 1583 Albarino de Fefinanes 750ML Light yellow to the eye, this wine has a bouquet of Golden Delicious apple, Anjou pear and vanilla bean. Striking acidity washes over the tongue and gums bearing pineapple, lemon-lime sorbet, passionfruit and lemon curd flavors set into a beautifully textured wine. Drink through 2030.
Albariño de Fefiñanes is our flagship wine. In line with the century-old winemaking tradition at Fefiñanes Manor House, jeweler, master craftsman and designer Enrique Mayer based in Santiago de Compostela, designed the label back in 1928. A year later, in 1929, our wine won an award at the 1929-30 edition of the Barcelona International Trade Fair. A truly pioneering wine. Winery
Undeniably, this is truly the very best expression of white wine that can rival the finest the world has to offer. Palacio de Fefiñanes, the oldest winery (pictured) linked with wine production in the Rias Baixas (“ree-ahs-buy-shuss”) region from the seventeenth century, makes wine solely from the region’s local Albariño (“al-baa-ree-nyo”) grape. However, in addition to their classic Albariño wine, the winery also produces this limited extraordinaire, the ‘1583’ in honor of the birthdate of the original viscount of Fefiñanes, Gonzalo Sarmiento Valladares. The Palacio de Fefiñanes Albariño ‘1583’ 2022 is a 4,000 bottle production is a barrel-aged version of the classic bottling in that it for a brief few months is placed into both Bordeaux barriques and “second use” sherry casks to add depth and flavor complexity!
The enologist, Cristina Mantilla began making wine for Fefiñanes at a very young age. Today, 26 years later, she directs productions for 10 other wineries throughout Spain as well and is considered one of the top female winemakers in both her home country and the world. THE WALL STREET JOURNAL ON CRISTINA: “IS THE MOST PROLIFIC VITICULTURIST OF RIAS BAIXAS”. Her style, marked by older traditions fused with modern techniques, is scoring high with many wine critics, like Stephen Tanzer who has declared this to be his favorite Spanish white! For those unacquainted with Spain’s most noble white, it is produced in the country’s northeast region of Galicia, called Rias Baixas, where the vineyards are quite windy due to their proximity to the Atlantic Ocean. The cool maritime air is what gives wondrous and dynamic zesty freshness to this wine – always memorable! So if you’ve never experienced an Albariño, then make you’re first experience the best experience . . and this is very the best! But best of all, it’s consider by top chefs and sommeliers to be an all-time great seafood wine. So now that summer is here – and all that delicious summer fare – so is the 1583!
