PULIGNY MONTRACHET WITHOUT THE PRICE
I am a massive fan of white Burgundy! Some of the greatest wines I have ever tasted. Complexity, layering and length, nothing else comes, like a religious sensory experiencece, ever changing in your glass as the wines opens up and comes alive. Demand for white Burgundy keeps going and so do prices which brings me to todays wine and why it is so special. The hardest top white Burgundy region to find quality at a reasonable price is Puligny Montrachet, rare to find anything under $1OO a bottle. I tasted the Domaine Guillemard Clerc ‘Les Partier’ Blanc 2024 and I was blown away. I know Guillemard Clerc well and we offer her spectacular Puligny Montrachet. Today wines are made by 3rd generation rock star winemaker Corinne Guillemard-Clerc. Based in Puligny, she is a meticulous winemaker. All of her parcels are hand-harvested and pressed immediately to retain maximum freshness. What makes Corrine a true craftsmen is that she does everything herself. Her efforts have proven themselves in the great wine she makes that are the essence of Puligny, purity, richer more muscular with great aging material. When I looked at the label of today’s incredible wine. I noticed that the label just sais Cote-d’Or Blanc. I was confused and started digging! In addition to owning spectacular parcels in some of the top Puligny Montrachet vineyards, Corinne owns a small parcel called “Les Parties”, located in the village of Puligny Montrachet, but that falls outside of the Puligny appellation. It is classified as Bourgogne Cote d’Or. The site neighbours Les Houilleres. One of Puligny’s great sites. Needless to say, that the terroir is fantastic, and people often refer to this wine as Puligny without the price”! The wine drinks like an $100 bottle Puligny, but it’s yours for $36.99. Only 300 cases made. Lives up to its name, open a bottle and it disappears fast! This is a spectacular buy for white Burgundy, regularly sells for $50-$55 we have it you at $36.99. Experience the Hillside difference!!
